ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Jae! I’m a graphic designer who loves creating work rooted in visual identity and narrative world-building. I received my BA from NYU’s Gallatin School in 2025, where I built my own major around design, storytelling, and visual culture.

I’m currently a Graphic Design Intern at GKIDS Films, where I’ve had the chance to learn about the creative processes behind the distribution and promotion of animated films. I’m also an Adobe Creative Apprentice, continuing to grow my practice through mentorship and professional development.

A lot of my work is inspired by East Asian art and animation, drawing from my Chinese background and the visual languages I grew up with. When I’m not designing, you can usually find me reading, making hand-crafts, or being bossed around by my very needy cat!

MY EXPERIENCE

  • NEW YORK, NY / June 2025 - Present

    • Design a wide range of digital and print assets — including title treatments, social media posts, streaming and theatrical banners, newsletters, press kits, and partner deliverables  — for properties such as Studio Ghibli, Arcane, and other major titles.

    • Contribute to high-visibility key art projects such as movie posters, Blu-ray/Steelbook packaging, official fan merchandise, and convention materials for Anime NYC, New York Comic Con, and Animation is Film, ensuring a cohesive visual brand for each project.

    • Research and monitor audience engagement and fan response to visual assets, informing creative direction.

  • NEW YORK, NY / Aug. 2021 - Dec. 2022

    • Designed and illustrated 2-3 Instagram posts and stories per week, helping increase profile views by 300%.

    • Created physical assets for church events — including fliers and large-format posters using Adobe Photoshop and Procreate.

    • Conceptualized and executed the full marketing campaign for "2econd Chances", a mental health awareness initiative that attracted 200+ attendees.

  • PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC / Aug. 2023 - Dec. 2023

    • Collaborated weekly with staff writers and editors to develop article ideas and strategize design solutions.

    • Redesigned the blog logo and directed a comprehensive website overhaul, increasing engagement by 200%.

    • Designed weekly blog cover images and Instagram graphics to accompany articles using Adobe Illustrator.

    • Gained cross-cultural work experience while adapting to a Prague-based creative team.
